Paraguay: Monitoring the Supply & Quality of Water

For citizens living in the rural areas of Paraguay, access to potable water and sanitation practices are critical public services. But, more often than not, citizens are unable to find public information on local water supplies and rural sanitation systems that can help them provide cleaner water and healthier environments for their families.

To provide citizens throughout the country with updated, complete, and cross-referenced information, Paraguay is adopting the Rural Water and Sanitation Information System digital platform (SAISAR in Spanish). Overseen by non-governmental organizations, municipalities, and donor groups, the platform will allow for public monitoring and evaluation of open data on local water supply and rural sanitation systems.
